My mind can't connect together any significant thoughts, but here are some random ones:
I said goodbye to one of my closest friends Simon Paquet. I hope he caught a bit of the traveling flu I always had and someday find a way to come visit me in Thailand.
I also said goodbye to some people this week and then retracted to see them again. Finally the last goodbye was done, and hopefully I see them later.
So far on this trip, I've driven (not riden in) a total of 6 vehicles (Cortni's Berretta, Simon's Civic, Lee's Shadow, Lee's Land Cruiser, Luck's Accord, Natalie's Civic). I have slept at 12 places. (Grebel's couch, Nicholson's bed, Cortni's bed, Simon's couch, Simon's bed, Lee's floor, Eric's Sleeping bag on a mattress, Lee's bed, Brooke's house, Luck's Bed, Olsens' bed, Natalie's bed. I'm expecting to drive 3 more cars and sleep at 6 more spots before I go home.
Last night we went to the Gay Hot Pot in Ogden canyon. The hot spring was too hot. The flooding river was very close to it so we used a tarp and a shoe to gather enough freezing water into the pool. I drank a few sips of whiskey, a half can of green tea, and a sip of Apricot Hefeweizen beer. I stripped naked twice to change.
Prior to the hot pot trip I ate at a place called The Oaks. Ordered a pretty huge burger. Their fries were delicious. The lime rickey was a little bland. My friend Hunter Smith joined Cami, Luke, Lee and I there for a good time.
We moved to Roosters where I had their sampler trio of the beer. I also dared order their Loaded Root Beer. It was sweet but delicious. Lee noticed the black waitress smiling at me twice while biting her lips. I didn't go home with her that night.
I rode on Lee's Honda Shadow motorcycle by myself around North Ogden. At one point I lost track of the gear position and then decided to lose track of my location. As I was doing a turnaround, the bike died due to my careless shifting, its weight shifted and I almost had a pretty bad accident. I didn't put the bike down but a few more inches it would have broken my leg and possibly made Lee very angry. While I rode, I felt like a bad ass. The minor accident was worth it.
My expensive waterproof jacket has already redeemed its worth. After canoeing in the rain and Northern Utah being rainy this week, my t-shirt remained completely dried. My shoes however were not waterproof.
I met one of the most if not the most attractive Asian if not the most attractive woman this week. Her name is Michelle and she works at a mexican restaurant in Ogden. My friends pushed and I got the courage to tell her that she was "possibly the most attractive Korean girl who has ever worked at a Mexican Restaurant in Ogden, Utah." She laughed and blushed of course. They made fresh guacamole at your table at this restaurant. The food was average at best.
Lee and Natalie and I looked at this website and had a laugh attack. Jesus, don't bother me.
I'm sitting in the airport delayed for two hours waiting for a flight from Salt Lake to Oakland. Life still goes on.
I am reading John Steinbeck's "Travel with Charley." Lee gave me this book to motivate about my Round the World trip. It's doing its job.
I toured the Wonder Bread Factory in Ogden UT. The machines were not running but nonetheless it was an experience. It's confusing to understand how we all eat "Titanium Oxide" without any health repercussions. I ate a free Hostess Cup Cake after— obviously it wasn't too confusing for me.
Some days this week I wake up a little mopey. I still don't really completely understand what happened to me. Then I quickly realize that she's been gone for a long time, a lot longer than I ever knew. It's a different life she was already living, and if I don't bounce back quickly, none of the above would have happened for me this week. It hurt, but seems like she already took the left fork, so I'm moving on, with a big naked smile on my face...
