Greetings from Pattaya.
This beach is probably the easiest one to get to from Bangkok. It's about ninety minutes from my house. My brother drove us for the first time. There were some scary moments, but I was too happy to not be the one driving.
The water is not near as clean as Phuket. For about a hundred yards out it is a mucky brown, after which is a pristine green and blue. I do think it is from the sand but in reality it probably is the filth that washes off dirty old men who come here to seek sexual pleasure from strangers' daughters (and sons).
Beachside massages are offered here along with selections of seafood, souvenirs, ocean activities, and oddly enough lotteries. Do enough people feel lucky at the beach to create enough of a demand?
I do wish there were some smoking hot babes I can scope through my Polarized sunglasses, but my selection was limited to beer bellies, sunburned children, and tired squid vendors.
It's a nice place to get away from the city however. I do enjoy eating overpriced barbecue chicken together with my family. We are staying at an Ibis hotel near the beach. Their rooms are small but the shower is nice. I've stayed in this brand of hotels before and the rooms are perfectly the same. Even the buffet eggs are cooked to the same consistency. I dislike the personalitylessness of places like these. One day I will convince one of my family members to give Couchsurfing a spin.
My brother is playing jazz guitar until I fall asleep every night. I'm a lucky man.
Peace,
Pete
I can't agree more about Pattaya. It's just plain sad.
