Belated Hedgehog Tribute, Technical Scout, Police Escort, and Shipping dock.

So my late pet hedgehog Bepo died exactly one year two months and 16 days ago. With all the craziness that was happening to me in May, I didn't have time to do a proper tribute.

He was so awesome. Cute little bugger.

This isn't really him, but it shows how damn cute hedgehogs can be. I would consider getting another when I have a proper home for it. Long lived Bepo.

Today I went on a location scout for a Smirnoff commercial we'll be shooting at the end of this week. WE went all over Bangkok to find the right locations and also to have some time to figure out how we'd light the room on the day of. We don't have a lot of time to shoot on those days so it's best to be as prepared as you can during preproduction.
The whole day we had a police escort to block off traffic for us. The movie world is a bit ridiculous with things like this. We could pretty much have hired five police officers and have intersections blockaded just to shoot one little shot. If we wanted a helicopter, it would magically appear, with the right budget of course.

We went to a really nice tall building in downtown Bangkok and scouted some locations there as well. There was a chic bar that was pretty cool— it deserves a return visit, especially because the cute girl at the register managed a smile for me. That can always make my day. Smile at me.
Later in the day we went to a shipping dock across the Chao Praya river. I've never been to one of these before. It was so magnificent. This is one of the plus things I will be able to do as a filmmaker— to be in places normal people wouldn't normally have access to. While everyone was meeting, I just stood in awe taking photos of these massive cranes that effortlessly lifted heavy containers off the trucks and stacked them on a huge cargo ship. It's amazing what basic pulleys and hydraulic systems can combine to become a massive machine.

I'll end this entry with the sky with the lomo setting on my phone. I realize it's a bit late to jump on the lomography bandwagon, but I'm trying to enjoy the bumpy ride.

I know I haven't had much to say lately on the blog. I've been a bit sick so I'm trying to get to bed early(er). I also haven't had time to be writing something more significant. With that said I leave with a promise to be a bit more poetic. Good night for now friends.

Pete
