My Way Back

I've been back two days now. Back home.
It feels good to feel home. I have never felt that in my life. It's a new feeling. Congratulate me.

What most people don't know is that in the past year, I have been  running a very big business. It is my family's business, but my dad stepped back and let me command a pretty dang big ship.
I was experimenting a few things while I was gone. The business has been largely micro-managed. That's not my idea of a good time. Before I left I gave vaque but goal-directed assignments for people, leaving them with it with a month before deadline, and coming back to see the results.

I found that most of the goals were accomplished— with more creative input from the employees than ever. This made me very happy.

I'd probably add a hairlight to the lady
and maybe a few in the background
for a bit more texture there.
This morning I went to my mom to the morning market. We donated to a few monks. I took this photo on my phone.

I've been thinking of pictures in term of film more. I need to be able to tell the stories in that format.

This would be an example of a Over the Shoulder (o/s) shot in film.
The old lady was selling food in the morning.

I came home. Watched a brilliant film about making film called the Cinematographer Style by John Fauer. These are just collective interviews of the best of the best in cinematography. I wished I had seen this film in high school. It was mind blowing how much I am made to be a cinematographer. Now I just need to put everything in place for me to proceed forward with my goal.

Also, I started reading Jack Kerouac's On the Road, as suggested by my friend Jaclyn. Reading this together with the Steinbeck is blurring the lines a little. I am reading this on my new Kindle— it is a magnificent little tool.

Went to the gym. It was so flipping good to run. I am planning to train for a half marathon. It is supposed to be set around the Ankor Wat in December. I'm excited to train again.

Cheers! or Chai YO (in Thai)
Hung out with my new friend P' May that I met in SF. We had an awesome dinner with her friends Sean and P' Oo.  They are fun. I ended having a pint of my favorite beer Hoegaarden.

Hosting a few people this week—a girl from Germany and maybe a couple from Lithuania. Should be fun. More adventures this weekend for sure.

I do miss you all.
Pete
